Dennis and SISIS have announced the appointment of Platts Harris Limited, part of Lookers Plc, as dealers to cover the Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire areas.
Operating out of their impressive premises at Tuxford in Nottinghamshire and Darley Dale in Derbyshire, Platts Harris, trading as Golf and Turf Machinery, is now providing sales, service and parts support to customers for the complete range of Dennis professional mowers and SISIS natural and synthetic turf maintenance machinery.
Brailsford Golf Club’s Head Greenkeeper Andy Ryder has faced a most testing spring for his tees and greens in particular, but his two Dennis professional cylinder mowers have helped him cope and kept the club’s 180 members happy at the tee and pin. For two years now, Andy has been using a 10-bladed Dennis FT510 with interchangeable cassettes for his tees and an 11-bladed Dennis Razor Ultra on the greens at Brailsford and he swears by them.

Responding to popular demand by golf clubs and Greenkeepers on the Isle of Man, Dennis & SISIS recently took to the road again. At BTME 2013 Dennis and Sisis will be exhibiting the Sisis Rotorake TM1000, this popular tractor mounted scarifier gives the user a combination of scarification and linear aeration allied with heavy duty power to control and remove thatch, reduce standing water and improve filtration. To maintain the ideal depth of scarification, the weight of the collection box and any material is absorbed by the main frame on the front roller, independent from the reel.

Keith Exton, Head Groundsman of Glamorgan CCC, together with his Chief Executive Alan Hamer welcomed over 130 delegates to the seminar, all no doubt keen to visit a test match ground and learn from the experts.
Home to two teams competing in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Cricket Championship (Feeder League to the East Anglian Premier League) on Saturdays, the club has a link with neighbours F&CY Cricket Club (U9 to U18). This allows them to play a mixture of youngsters and senior players in the F&CY Cricket Club’s Sunday teams, giving the younger players an introduction to senior cricket.
Dennis and SISIS will again be exhibiting and demonstrating their range of world class turf maintenance equipment at Saltex 2012. Visitors to the stand will be able to view an upgraded and improved version of the SISIS ride-on brush system which is designed specifically for the maintenance of synthetic surfaces.
Bickford Smith Bowls Club in Camborne, Cornwall was founded in 1931, originally as the ICI Bowling Club but is now an important community resource, with three men’s league teams and two ladies’ teams, as well as friendly and inter-club matches and competitions. In 1978 the ladies, with the help of the men, organised the annual Bickford Smith ladies tournament, which still runs each year and is still a big success.
The 2012 Dennis and Sisis Turf Care Seminar programme sailed into the Isle of Man with a very successful and well attended day at the Ballafletcher Sports Club. Dennis & Sisis were pleased with the event and their well proven format certainly drew in the crowds. Over 70 people attended the day which encompassed a mix of technical presentations and demonstrations ‘on the pitch’.

After a very successful Fine Turf Seminar at Uxbridge County Cricket Club last year, Dennis recently returned for a repeat performance. Hosted once again by Vic Demain, in conjunction with Dennis and Cricketworld.com the focus this time was to support local cricket Groundsmen in the Middlesex and surrounding counties.
A Dennis cricket pitch mower is providing a flexible solution for the enthusiastic grounds team at Braunton Cricket Club in Devon.
Paul Mitcham, Chairman of Braunton Cricket Club, juggles a busy career as a driving instructor with maintaining the playing condition of the pitch. He explains: “We used professional groundstaff for about 10 years but due to financial restraints, myself and a colleague at the club, who is a policeman, decided to take over and share the responsibilities. We loved the work involved so we really didn’t mind!”
Following their Cricket seminar at Uxbridge Cricket Club earlier this year, Dennis and SISIS are once again offering cricket groundsmen the opportunity to attend this successful seminar. The venue this time is Essex County Cricket Club in Chelmsford and the date is Tuesday 22nd November 2011, commencing at 9.00am.
