Dennis are showing their commitment to IOG Saltex 2006 with a bigger stand featuring a new design in an enhanced location within the Windsor Racecourse showground.

The mowing machinery specialists will highlight precision products like the FT range of pedestrian units, which have revolutionised turf maintenance. Machines can be fitted with interchangeable cassette attachments, including verti-cutters, scarifiers, aerators and turf brushes, as well as various mowing reels. This gives valuable multi-tasking capabilities and greater working efficiency.

FT machines are available with cutting widths from 17-24in, along with larger versions, designated the ‘G’ Series from 26-34in. Every model is designed to be light in weight so as to exert minimal pressure on the turf, and they are easily manoeuvred. They are designed to achieve the highest quality finish on turf surfaces at all levels of provision.

“Sales growth continues apace for our high work-rate equipment,” says Managing Director, Ian Howard. “Demand is increasing from grounds care professionals all over the world, and covering the whole spectrum of small sports clubs, professional facilities, contractors and local authorities.

“Saltex is a terrific show and is an invaluable shop window. We always welcome many existing customers to our stand and we invariably win new clients and orders. We particularly welcome feedback from users, which helps us fine-tune machines and to develop new ones.”

Proof of the company’s Saltex successes is the recent order for three 24in (61cm) FT 610s from Waveney District Council in Suffolk. The authority’s machines were specified with a cylinder reel, a brush cassette, two scarifiers and a sorel roller, which has replaceable spikes that remove surface tension, allowing penetration of air, water and nutrients into the rootzone.

Waveney District Council’s Grounds Manager, Jim Brock, saw the FT610s at Saltex last year, looking for pedestrian mowers that would boost operational efficiency and performance. Impressed by the versatility of the FT concept, he arranged a demonstration and immediately bought three.

“The cassettes are so easy to change, we have an ongoing greens improvement programme throughout the season,” says Jim Brock. “Previously, we had to bring in different machines to do each task, which took much longer.” He is also impressed by the low vibration characteristics of the FTs, which is an important Health & Safety consideration.
