DENNIS TO SPORT NEW ADDITIONS AT SALTEX
Dennis has a reputation not just for developing precision mowing machinery, but also for being able to fine-tune equipment to meet customers’ changing demands. The latest addition to the company’s line-up proves this, in the form of the Sport Mk2.
Derived from the existing successful Sport machine, the 22in (560mm) cutting-width unit has new features for even more precise cutting and ease of use. As well as ergonomically designed handlebars and a new grass box, the Mk2 benefits from a simple click-adjust mechanism to alter the cutting height instantly. Boosting efficiency, this feature has been adopted from Dennis’s popular FT range of mowers, which cleverly accept interchangeable ‘cassettes’ for other turf care tasks.
The Sport Mk2 is also available as the Sport Ultra, fitted with an optional turf groomer. Featuring long-life tungsten blades, the groomer is of a spiral helix configuration meaning that all the blades strike the grass at different times, giving smooth and precise performance.
The blades operate through grooves on the aluminium front roller in an interlocking configuration. This reduces the wheelbase of the Sport Ultra, enhancing performance on undulating turf and facilitating manoeuvrability. The groomer is adjusted independently of the roller via plastic spacers and it can be engaged or disengaged easily at side of the machine.
Regular use of the groomer reduces thatch and can give faster golf greens and better quality tees. It also leads to better quality turf on other grassed sports surfaces.
Both the Sport Mk2 and the Sport Ultra are powered by a Honda petrol engine, producing 4hp. They will be officially launched at the IoG Saltex exhibition at Windsor Racecourse, from 6-8 September.
